Our Story.

Hello. I’m K. Sonderegger, owner and founder of Made You Look, LLC, which was born in 2002, after I realized there was an opportunity to create a design firm that brought the talent and service of a small agency, at a fraction of the cost. Using a “hub-and-spoke” work model, I was able to bring in subcontracted freelance talent to help with workflow, without the costs associated with a brick-and-mortar business model.

I remember so many people telling me - “you HAVE to have an office”… “you HAVE to have employees in order to grow”. Small Business Monthly did an article about me early on, and I remember sending them photo of me sitting at my desk and having to super-impose a Made You Look logo on the wall to make it look like I had a “real” office. Then, when the economy tanked in 2008, I got even more proof that no one cared that I had a brick-and-mortar… they just wanted the high quality service and deliverables of a big agency at a fraction of the price… and we were there to fill that need, as we always had.

During college, I stared my career at a small print shop in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, creating print plates at a paste-up table (something most people in the industry probably don’t even remember). Right after graduating from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona (on a whim) and worked for an ad agency for three years. From there, I moved to St. Louis, Missouri (also on a whim) and got hired by a small design firm and quickly became the Art Director for a team of 5 designers. That lasted for about four years, when I decided to set out on my own as a “trial” endeavor. That was in 2002, and I have never looked back.

I loved working directly with the clients the most - to dive deep into their business, seeing what made them tick - and discovering what their clients connected with in terms of branding and presentation of information. I wore the “sales/art director” hat and brought on a virtual team of trusted copywriters, designers, illustrators and proofreaders to bring the best talent at the lowest price.

In April of 2018, I joined the board of Zero to 100 as the committee brand chair, and soon after created the fast-growing company’s brand identity and #1 International best-selling book cover for “Zero to 100: The Gold Standard in Global Networking.” It was soon after that I decided that niching my design offerings and services was the best move to continue to serve her clients in the best way I could.

In 2021, Made You Look pivoted into a Branding + Book Cover only design firm, where I could continue to harness the power of my now largely expanded creative team and spend my time finding out what makes my clients - and their clients “tick” in order to come up with creative brands that drive results, and book cover designs that help our clients sky rocket to best-seller.

When I’m not working on my business, I love cruising around town in our 1964 Galaxie convertible with my hubby of 21 years, or hanging out with my 15 year old daughter and the family dog, Merle Haggard. I am also a big fan of participating in car shows (pandemic-permitting) with my 1973 Volkswagen “Thing”; joining friends and colleagues at social events and talking long walks on the beach at Sunset (whenever I can get back to Clearwater, Florida, to visit).
